Whether you're a city girl at heart, or a sweet country bride, once you've chosen the venue for the big day it's full steam ahead building the wedding around that setting. Everything from the table decorations to the transport reflects your individual style. So why should your outfit be any different?

What we love about sassy city brides is their ability to push back the style boundaries and go all out with unconventional accessories. Think chic monochrome for the bridesmaids, and glitzy accessories and clashing statement heels for the bride. Those dresses that are perfect for a city celebration should be pretty but practical and might be made from sheaths of soft silk satin, with simple, delicate details like French beading or vibrant corsages for an elegant but edgy style. Slim-fitting or sexy shorter styles will ooze glamour for a look that stands out from the crowd.

Top tips
While I do enjoy a glass of dry white, I'm no sommelier and it's certainly given me more idea about choosing wine to complement food. If you're about to embark on the tricky task of finding the perfect wedding tipple, I recommend checking out page 66.

Elsewhere, our experts take a look at the burning issue of theming the big day, but I'm sure readers will also find inspiration in our two real weddings.

Tried and tested this issue looks at bronzers and highlighters - basically anything that gives a healthy summer glow, while Danielle Wilkins puts some gorgeous gowns in the spotlight. Take your pick from both of these features and you'll be looking and feeling fab on your big day.

Happy planning

Our big day: Natalie & Chris

Our big day: Natalie & Chris

A champagne and pink colour scheme set the tone for Chris and Natalie's contemporary country wedding...

"Chris proposed to me while we were on holiday in New York - at the top of the Empire State building," Natalie reveals. "From there it took eight months to organise our big day. My dad's favourite restaurant in Essex is Le Talbooth, so he took Chris and me to see it as he thought we'd love it too - we did. It seemed like a really welcoming venue and not at all stuffy, which was important to us both."
"The dress and shoes were the easiest things to organise; I really enjoyed shopping for them. The seating plan had to be the trickiest thing to do."

A string quartet played before and during the ceremony, which created a lovely atmosphere. I could also hear them rehearsing as I was getting ready in my room, which was so relaxing.

I tried on about three dresses before finding 'the one'. I chose my Caroline Castigliano gown as it fitted in perfectly with our colour scheme and vintage look. It had quite a classic style but the champagne sash gave it a modern feel. I just loved it!
