We explore the benefits of engagement shoots and share our top tips for inspirational images
There are plenty of brides- and grooms-to-be who can't wait to get in front of the lens on their big day, but there are just as many couples who experience an attack of nerves at the thought of being photographed. If you and the camera are in the midst of your very own love affair then an engagement shoot is the perfect opportunity to have some fun before your nuptials. On the other hand, if getting ready for your close up gives you the jitters, it can also be a good way to learn to relax and get to know the process of wedding photography.
Meeting up with your photographer to discuss which shots you would like for your album really is a must, and if the sound of a shutter does make you shudder the sooner you become acquainted with your snapper the better. In addition to helping to boost your confidence, an engagement shoot gives you another set of fabulous pictures to treasure, and you can even use the images as part of the reception décor. If you're watching the pennies and are concerned about the extra cost, then fear not as many photographers incorporate a pre-wedding session into their fee.
The great outdoors
If you're not certain that you'll be able to achieve wonderful photos, we have a great suggestion for cheating your way to fabulous images; pick a stunning location and let the scenery do all the work! Head for the hills, a forest or a pretty garden and admire your surroundings while your photographer captures some beautiful shots that you'll be happy to hang on your wall for years to come.

Prior to my engagement and meeting my fiancé I was never obsessed with weddings just for the sake of it. However, since accepting his proposal I have come to view them in an entirely different light. A few people have said to me, 'it's only one day', but I disagree. Yes, it may just be one day for the guests, but it's a landmark occasion for any newlyweds as it's the starting point for their next journey together as a couple - marriage. A union of friendship and love, it's the day that you commit to taking on life together as a team and cement your relationship.
This doesn't mean you have to re-mortgage your house to pay for an over-the-top, lavish ceremony - just stay true to yourself and plan a day that represents both you and your husband-to-be.
Enjoy the issue!

Whether you want to show up in a classic Rolls- Royce or a quirky VW camper van, make sure you know all the options with this helpful guide to your big day transport
The transport you choose for your nuptials can be a strong representation of you and your husband-to-be, and is a very personal choice. Gone are the days when you only have a handful of options available and there is now a plethora of suitable vehicles perfect for any wedding.
There are many factors to consider when deciding on how you will arrive, and leave, the church or wedding venue and these can often rule out your groom's fantasy car. For example will it have to fit your army of bridesmaids? Does it have to have enough room to accommodate your gown? There are a lot of things to consider, however, bear in mind that ultimately it's about what is important to you and your hubby-to-be. Whatever you choose, make the most of travelling in style.
Cool classic Cars
Why not arrived all shook up with this quirky car that plays homage to Grease? If the standard wedding car doesn't float your boat, the varied array of transport options Cool Classic Cars has on offer will certainly whet your appetite.
"I would say that the standard vintage car is still the most popular. However, our classic American cars are always in demand. Hot Rods are for the couple that really want to make a statement while the VW Splitscreen campers have a large following and always bring a smile to people's faces," says Paul Williams from Cool Classic Cars.
"There is definitely an increase in themed weddings as people want to enjoy the day and make it the fun event it should be. We cater to this with our drivers dressing in smart vintage suits, ties and hats that are in keeping with the period of the vehicle."

Angels Creations is an Essex-based boutique that specialises in producing luxurious wedding stationery to set the standard for your big day. The company uses bespoke embossing and every piece of stationery is both hand-pressed and hand-finished.
Clare Andress and her sister set up the boutique in Great Yeldham five years ago. Clare tells us more: "Whilst looking for stationery for our own weddings, we both realised there was a gap in the market for luxurious, bespoke stationery at an affordable price. We were eager to move quickly with our designs so we purchased a 1950s Autovic press which enabled us to bring our customers' ideas to life."
The boutique also specialises in favour boxes which can be made to fit your requirements, no matter what size or shape. And, if you're not really the creative type, Angels Creations has a variety of ranges you can choose from, including the Signature and Buckles & Bows designs.
The company creates the following: save-the-date cards, wedding and evening invitations, order of service, menus, favour boxes, table plans, and name cards. See the company at The National Wedding Show from 30th September - 2nd October, 2011 on Stand C23.
Visit www.angelscreations.co.uk for more information.
The winner will receive a complete set of luxury wedding stationery up to the value of £750 to ensure a stylish tone is established from the first save-the-date card to the last favour box. The full set will be designed and produced by the team at Angels Creations to the exact specifications you want for your big day. |
