For something fun and feisty to get you in the mood for an evening out, Cirque du Soleil hosts its shows in lots of venues around the country. And when it comes to the fun factor, it doesn't really get much bigger than this. The company has recently launched a show called Saltimbanco which is set to be a big hit this year.
With spectacular costumes, amazing lighting, plenty of humour and enchanting music, it's an event both the young and old will love.

For something similar but slightly more intimate, La Clique cabaret is a sexy, funny cocktail of everything from burlesque performers to contemporary circus acts.

Musical arrangements

Musical arrangements

The music really sets the scene for the big day, so whatever your budget, spend it wisely!

Dull? Lifeless? For once it's not Ms Cole talking about her (clearly lustrous) hair; it's how we at Your Kent Wedding see marriage without music. It was the fi rst time that we'd really sat down and thought about it, and we found it quite unimaginable that anyone would ever consider celebrating in silence. When we pondered why, the consensus was the wedding would be 'dull' and 'lifeless' from the start to the very end.

We realise that everyone has different pots of money to spend on music, and while some can be flash with the cash, others will need to spend wisely. Simone has a few ideas on what you can get for your money!

To see Simone's ideas and for more information on managing your musical arrangements on a budget, see pages 65-67 of the current issue.

Wedding videography: the day gets filmed and you get to watch it whenever the fancy takes you. What a great way to remember the big day.

It doesn't have to eat in to your budget... but it can if you want it to. With all the expense of the wedding, something's got to give and it's not always possible to have everything your heart desires. But at Your Kent Wedding we often hear couples bemoan the fact that a videographer wasn't on the 'must-have' side of the wedding wish list. Conversely, those who have added a cameraperson into the mix always express happiness at having done so. There are plenty of great videographers in the county, and it's worth talking to a few to see if they can offer something within your budget.

For more information on why you should consider a videographer for your big day, see pages 87 & 88.

May the best man win

May the best man win

Selecting the best man might not always be as easy as it seems. Ned Mawding points out that it's not just about who can give you the best stag do.

Choosing the best man: it's simple right? You'll pick your best friend, the one who makes you - and others - laugh hysterically all the time and the one you spend most of your spare time with, be it on the Xbox, at football matches or propping up the bar at the weekend.

Well, actually, it's not always that straightforward. He may be the guy who immediately springs to mind when it comes to having fun, but it might be worth thinking about whether or not he really is the right man to be by your side on your wedding day.
How do you choose? Should you really go on the basis of who can organise the best stag do? As much as you might like to, it's likely your beloved will think of him as a bit of an idiot and will know someone far better suited to the job. So how about seeing things her way and selecting the guy who you know will be a big help on the day instead?

For more tips on choosing your best man, see page 104 of the current issue.
