Samantha and David celebrated with a winter wonderland theme at Alexander House incorporating a navy blue and silver colour scheme
Samantha Isbill and David Hilbert met on an induction day, when they started working for the same company. The couple only got to know each other two years later at a work Christmas party and soon began dating. "I fell in love with David as we share the same sense of humour and he's also a massive foodie, like me. He's tall, dark and handsome and has the most striking looks as he's half Chinese," says Samantha. David adds, "Samantha is not only beautiful, she's also the kindest and most thoughtful individual I have ever met. We have so much in common and we're always having a laugh together."
David popped the question at the top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa. "David proposed twice, once while standing and then again while kneeling as I cheekily asked him to get down on one knee before I would give him an answer. I was delighted, and also happy David had asked for my dad's blessing," says Samantha. David adds, "I had planned the occasion well in advance but I started to get nervous the day before as I couldn't find a suitable ring. In the morning, the weather was cloudy and there was some doubt as to whether we would make it to the top of the mountain but as we approached the skies cleared and the sun shone. Afterwards, we went for afternoon tea and watched the sun go down over Camps Bay; it was perfect."

| Here comes the bride |
 |
It's with great happiness that I am writing my first letter as a newlywed! Fresh from our nuptials I am full of the joys of married life and our fantastic honeymoon to Thailand. As editor of the region's leading wedding magazine I was lucky enough to get fresh inspiration on a daily basis and put a lot of thought into the planning process. And there was nothing better than seeing all our efforts come to fruition - everything was exactly as we had imagined it.
Many people said to me during the run up to the big day not to sweat the small stuff, but having now experienced the wedding of my dreams I have to totally disagree. Yes, paying attention to the most minute details can add some stress and anxiety, however when I saw the beautiful barn decorated with all the little extras, it made the day what it was. Many guests commented on the individual place cards, the beautiful table displays and the quirky decorations, which made it all worthwhile.
Happy planning!

The Makeup Box Studio is run by experienced make-up artists and bridal specialists, Paula Rixon and Karen Loraine. Opened in early 2011, the company specialises in creating a natural look for brides on their big day.
Both Paula and Karen are experts in applying foundation with an airbrush to give the skin a smooth and flawless appearance. They also have experience in covering blemishes, scars and tattoos with camouflage make-up to help achieve a picture perfect look.
Paula Rixon, co-director of The Makeup Box Studio says, "It's important to choose a make-up artist who understands the look you're after. It's easy to think you can do your own make-up, or ask a friend, but why not take the stress out of the preparations and consult an expert? It helps to have a professional's opinion and you can bounce ideas off one another."
The lucky winner, along with four friends, will experience a day at The Makeup Box Studio, for a makeover experience and photo shoot. The photographs will be taken by wedding photographer, Guy Sherlock, creative director of Dreamweave Photography, and at the end of the experience the bride will be given a CD containing 12 of her favourite shots from the day. Both Paula and Karen will apply the make-up and there will also be specialist bridal hairdressers on hand.

As 2011 draws to an end and we reflect on yet another successful 12 months of all things bridal, the County Wedding Magazines team has turned its attentions to the up-coming trends for the year ahead
Flowers Francesca Lee, features editor Your Kent Wedding, Your Sussex Wedding Depending on the type of nuptials you opt for, the style of blooms you choose for the big day make a big impact. For modern celebrations a black and white flower combination will be in vogue for 2012. Monochrome bouquets not only look stunning in contemporary venues but also add an art deco style statement, which I think will be all the rage next year. To achieve this look, opt for light blooms with dark centres, such as white anemones combined with black calla lilies. Other touches, such as ribbon wraps and black or white crystals will also complete this style of arrangement.
For a more traditional approach, bouquets with hues such as baby pink, subtle yellow and cream will be on-trend in 2012. Roses, peonies and hydrangeas would be ideal for this look, but remember, whichever flowers you decide on, keep your other styling choices consistent throughout to bring the whole day together. |
