We get the low down from Karen Hunter, winner of Your Surrey Wedding's Boudoir Photo competition, about her experience
"I entered the competition in Your Surrey Wedding magazine to win the pre-wedding boudoir package more on a whim than anything else. Having never been a lucky person I didn't expect much to come of it."
"Photographer Kate Lloyd put me at ease straight from the start. She was friendly and chatty and obviously very passionate about what she does. We settled down with a hot chocolate to look through some previous examples of her work. She always kept me informed of every detail and she managed to secure a room in South Lodge where I would have the pictures taken. As this was also the location of the overnight stay that I had won as part of the prize package it was great to see it beforehand. As part of the prize Georgina Roberts make-up and hair stylist was on hand to work her magic and make me look beautiful."
"Throughout the morning we tried several different outfits using shirts, nightwear, basques and stockings for a slightly more risqué look. The longer I spent in front of the camera, the more I found myself relaxing and enjoying it which was largely due to Kate making me feel really special."
"Kate's enthusiasm was infectious and I was desperate to see the album following the shoot. I was blown away by how amazing it was. People may make the assumption that boudoir photos are only for those confident in themselves and their bodies. Having experienced it for myself, and not being a person who is particularly confident with their physical appearance, I can assure you that after spending time in Kate's capable hands and with Georgie's fabulous make-up skills, you will feel like you are a supermodel!"

Q - My fiance and I are both shy people, so we want to spend plenty of time in front of the camera before the big day to get used to being photographed. Can you tell me more about pre-wedding shoots, and how far in advance of the wedding do you suggest we book a session?
A - Denise says: A lot of photographers include pre wedding shoots within their packages, as not only is it a great opportunity to have a look at your chosen venue and select locations to shoot on your wedding day, but it also gives the photographer an insight in to how you interact as a couple in front of the camera.
Most couples have never had professional photographs taken and don't really know what to expect, so the pre-wedding shoot helps put them at ease before their day. It's also a chance to confirm timings and details and any group photograph requirements.
I usually suggest a pre-wedding shoot six weeks before the big day as all times and details would usually be finalised at this point. It's close enough to the wedding day to reconnect with the couple, as in most cases a photographer would not have seen them since the initial booking. |

Denise Winter and Sharon Collopy, professional photographers and members of the SWPP, are the driving force behind Denise Winter Photography. Over the years they have attended more than 500 weddings, from glorious barns to magical castles and a few destination weddings too, treating each one with the same excitement and commitment as they did their very first wedding.
Denise says: 'Weddings are a once in a lifetime event, and we take great pride and care in capturing the special day so it can be relived and enjoyed by the couple and future generations. While the formality of the wedding is often the same, every couple we photograph is different. We believe that wedding photography should represent the individual personalities, which is why we enjoy meeting couples at our studio in Windlesham. Over a fresh cup of coffee or pot of tea, we discuss the plans for their special day; their wants, needs, desires and quirks.'

Top hotels in which to celebrate your big day
Gorse Hill As you arrive at Gorse Hill the long driveway, which weaves past the exotic monkey puzzle tree, provides a grand entrance to a magical setting. Situated in 17 acres of Surrey countryside, Gorse Hill is a beautiful manor house with quintessentially English charm.
Built in 1912, Gorse Hill was once home to a number of colourful Edwardian characters, many of whom made their fortunes in transport. But despite its busy past, this hidden gem is now a relaxed and intimate haven.
Whether you'd like the house and its grounds for the reception, ceremony or both, the experienced team will help you plan every detail to perfection, from the dining to the first dance.

Make sure you arrive in style on your big day
Horses are perfect for brides who want a fairytale feel to their day. Whether it's a traditional horse-drawn carriage, or you go all out and hire a glass pumpkin, this mode of transport is a romantic start to the nuptials.
Borrowing If budgets are restraining your choice, talk to friends and family and see who has a classic car you can borrow for the big day. They will no doubt be happy to help out, and you never know, you might find the wheels of your dreams.
Sports cars make a great statement and are a sure fire hit with the groom and best man. From a flash Ferrari to an awesome Austin Martin, it's the groom's chance to drive the ultimate automobile on the big day.
Limos are probably your best choice if you wish to travel with the entire wedding party at the same time. It's also a luxurious option if you have a long drive to the airport after the celebrations to head off on your honeymoon, so you can unwind and start the trip early!
Novelty transport will really emphasise a fun theme. From Del Boy's Robin Reliant, to The A-Team's GMC Van, the options are endless.
