Local menswear experts give their top tips and advice on dressing the groom and his party
The bride will no doubt have been planning her dream dress since she was a small girl. The groom however, has probably never given a second thought to his big day attire and is flummoxed by the options available. If this sounds like a man you know, then our helpful guide will point him in the right direction.
2012 Trends "Similarly to 2011, traditional morning suits will still be popular with grey and black being the colours of choice, although navy morning suits are showing signs of being very on trend too. Top hats are now being worn more than ever and we are seeing a change in accessory styles too, with groomsmen choosing ties rather than cravats," says Phil Dunne, Windsor Formal Hire.

Feeling feminine
Q - I am of a slim build with quite an athletic shape and was wondering which style of wedding gown should I opt for to create feminine curves?
A - Sharon says: Try to create the illusion of curves, while showcasing your fabulous figure. A ball gown with a fitted bodice and full skirt will do this perfectly by adding fullness to your hips while accentuating your small waist. Added beading on and around the bust enhances a smaller chest.
Also, an A-line style gown fitted through the shoulders and flaring out to the hem with a narrow plunging v-shape neckline will draw the eye inwards and avoid enhancing breadth of shoulders. Details on the waist will define your slim figure. |

Daljit Kaur Mahoon and Andrew Babel, married on 23rd July, 2011, at St Mary's Church in Walton on Thames followed by a reception at Oatlands Park Hotel, Weybridge
After meeting in a bar in Shoreditch, Daljit and Andrew's first date was dinner in Chiswick, "We had a lovely meal and overall had a great evening," remembers Daljit.
"On Friday 28th May 2010, six years later, Andrew proposed. It was my 30th birthday and he surprised me by taking me to a lovely Michelin star restaurant called Pied a Terre in London. We had a fantastic meal and as the champagne arrived, he got down on one knee and proposed. I was in complete shock and said 'yes' through my blubbering tears."
"The timing was perfect, we had just bought our first home and Andrew's birthday was the next day so we were having a huge house warming party that weekend. As a result we also celebrated our birthdays and our engagement with all our family and friends. It was fantastic."
The couple planned the wedding together which took around a year to organise, "The church was really easy to arrange as the clergy were so helpful from the moment we contacted them," says Daljit. "Trying to find a reception venue which was available for the date we wanted was tricky. We were lucky to get Oatlands Park which was near to our house and is a great venue."
