Five steps to the perfect seating plan

Five steps to the perfect seating plan

Your reception depends upon it, so get it right and make your celebrations unforgettable.

It's a difficult job at the best of times, but when your big day is just around the corner, putting together a seating plan for 50 or more guests can seem like mission impossible. It's an important task, too; even if yours is a casual affair, letting guests choose their own seats could result in complete chaos.
I'm sorry to say that this is an area where wedding planners have no choice but to take a back seat: after all, you and your fiancé are the ones who know all of your guests and, most importantly, the family dynamics. But don't fret - County Wedding Magazines has put together a foolproof guide to getting your table plan done and dusted, so you can relax and enjoy the run-up to your big day.

For a five step guide to the perfect seating plan, see pages 79 & 80 of the current issue.

Kerry Boullemier, Features editor for Your Surrey Wedding:

I never fail to be impressed by some of the fantastic and inspiring ideas that Surrey brides bring to the magazine, and one of my favourites was this novelty tea party cake from the fabulous Maki's Cakes. It's the perfect choice for a vintage tea party-themed wedding - just make sure you get some good photos before it gets eaten!
I'm a big fan of flowers; I really believe they can give any wedding the wow factor, which is why I chose this stunning centrepiece from Cindy Kirkland as one of my picks. It just oozes elegance and style, and wouldn't look out of place at a royal affair.
Photographers often tell me some of the most creative wedding photos they've ever taken have been during wet weather, and I couldn't agree more. This shot of Rebecca and Jon's wedding is one of my favourites.

Your Surrey Wedding needs you!
I'm so excited. I was bemoaning the fact that I haven't been to a wedding for ages, when what should pop through on my mobile, but a message from one of my good friends Clara saying that she will be tying the knot in December.

Clara's lucky - she knows exactly the type of venue in which she wants to celebrate her marriage (actually, we've been discussing it since last summer, well before her proposal!), but not everyone is so clear. Hopefully the second part of our venue searching series will help our undecided readers at least choose between urban and rural.

Elsewhere this issue, our token bloke Ned is flying the flag for the boys and offering advice on choosing the best man, while fashion editor Kerry takes a look at men's shoes for all wedding styles.

Enjoy!

They say love is sweet so what better way to evoke the sentiment than in your wedding theme?
Laura Binder looks at candy colour schemes.

With spring upon us I can't help but think of pretty pastel tones for wedding days. But, to stand out from the crowd, why not add a tasty touch to the season's colours with a candy twist?
Couples can stick well within budget by creating economical yet eye-catching centrepieces: large glass bowls or tall jars filled with retro treats like flying saucers, sherbet lemons, marshmallows and lollipops look devastatingly sweet and tables can be named after them too. Indulging in all things candy is also a great option for those with children on the guest list, and works just as well for adults - after all, who doesn't have a taste for old school treats?

Dream honeymoon destinations

Dream honeymoon destinations

Magical landscapes, fragrant frangipani and the ancient dance ritual have seduced many artists and adventurers to the shores of Tahiti. Travel editor Rowena Marella-Daw vows to fulfil her lifelong dream of dancing with the natives.

There are so many paradise islands around the world, but one particular group - the Tahitian archipelago - fascinates me the most. It isn't just the enticing turquoise waters and still lagoons protected by coral reefs, or even the white sand beaches and dramatic landscapes shaped by volcanoes, waterfalls and lush rainforests. For me it's the beguiling culture I discovered while learning a Tahitian dance as a young girl growing up in the Philippines that left an indelible mark.
Women wearing striking headdresses shake and swivel their hips to the feverish rhythms of drumbeats and chanting, their grass skirts swishing and undulating with every move.

BORA BORA - romantic ISLAND

Bora Bora is definitely not one to be missed. Reputed to be the most beautiful island in the world, it is protected by a coral reef and has many secluded beaches. An exciting start to this journey is landing on a runway on an islet or motu. From here, hop on a boat to reach the main island to peruse the interiors on a jeep, then take a boat trip to explore the lagoons.
