After all the fun and excitement of the big day, what could be better than escaping to an island as husband and wife and getting spoilt rotten! Picture emerald waters, white sandy beaches, friendly locals, warm weather and luxurious resorts, all of which you can experience in The Islands of The Bahamas.

SANDALS EMERALD BAY
The luxurious Sandals Emerald Bay is the newest addition to the brand's collection of Luxury Included® resorts spread across the Caribbean and The Bahamas.

All 183 spacious plantation-style oceanfront suites, villas and bay houses come with the services of a butler trained by the Guild of Professional English Butlers to cater to every couple's whim. There is also a 17-acre Emerald Bay Marina - the first of its kind at a Sandals resort.

Laze on the beach or take a dip in the infinity pool before gliding towards the Jacuzzi or pool bar for a sip of martini at sunset. Get some serious pampering at the Red Lane® Spa, which has 22 indoor treatment areas and six outdoor sanctuaries. Take part in a wide range of activities and sports, including scuba diving, or practise your swing in the 18-hole Greg Norman-designed championship golf course.

Your reception depends upon it, so get it right and make your celebrations unforgettable...

It's a difficult job at the best of times, but when your big day is just around the corner, putting together a seating plan for 50 or more guests can seem like mission impossible.

It's an important task, too; even if yours is a casual affair, letting guests choose their own seats could result in complete chaos.

I'm sorry to say that this is an area where wedding planners have no choice but to take a back seat: after all, you and your fiancé are the ones who know all of your guests and, most importantly, the family dynamics. But don't fret - County Wedding Magazines has put together a foolproof guide to getting your table plan done and dusted, so you can relax and enjoy the run-up to your big day.

For a full guide and more information on the perfect seating plan, see pages 69-70 of the current issue.

Romance through the ages

Romance through the ages

The 1920's, 30's and 40's graced us with so many fashion icons: Greta Garbo, Katherine Hepburn, Bette Davies, and Jean Harlow; all women who would go on to inspire some of today's biggest bridal designers, from the lavish frills of Ian Stuart to the country-vintage designs of Claire Pettibone.

One thing is for sure though: anyone can wear a vintage-inspired design. If you picture yourself as a bit of a 1920's flapper girl on your wedding day, this look has an emphasis on women who have a slight, slender shape. The sleek gowns are shaped like tunics, and have some have intricate detailing on a low-slung waist and panelled skirts.

Brides looking to reflect the 1920's era should finish their look, just like couture designer Lindsay Fleming has, with pretty detailed headdresses adorned with feathers, and strings upon strings of pearls.

For more information on the perfect vintage gown for your big day, see pages 78-80 of the current issue.

Situated on the waterfront of Gunwharf Quays, Spinnaker Tower stands tall at 170 metres and offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Portsmouth Harbour.

The venue has a licence to hold civil ceremonies, so couples have the opportunity to have the tower lit up in a colour of their choice for that extra wow factor.

"The Spinnaker Tower is an unusual wedding venue. Being able to share what the tower offers with the most special day in a couple's life is something which is truly amazing." - Paul Mahy, Commercial Manager.

An enchanting day

An enchanting day

A day filled with fun and happy memories and the presence of family and friends made Cheryl and Stephen's day a fairytale come true.

We chose to get married at St Margaret's Church for sentimental reasons - my grandparents and sister all got married there. Our reception was held at the pavillion at The Cromwell Arms in Romsey, which offered a magical setting surrounded by the forest and views of the River Test. It was also great to be able to personalise our menus from which our guests could make a selection.

My dress had a Spanish look. It was figure hugging, with silk ruffles cascading down like a fish tail. The bodice was covered with Swarovski crystals, and it felt amazing and very different from the traditional wedding dress. I also wanted something different for my hair, so I asked Vivien Sheriff, a hat designer, to create a hair accessory to complemement my dress, and also one that was fun to wear.

For more information on Cheryl & Stephen's enchanting day, see pages 58-62 of the current issue.

Wedding of the Year 2010

Wedding of the Year 2010

Last year our Wedding of the Year competition was a huge success - readers from all over the county entered for their chance to be crowned with the title. So this year we've decided to run the competition again; only we've upped the ante with a fabulous mini-break for two worth £560.

Throughout the year we'll be looking for couples whose Kent-based weddings have taken place in 2010.
Every issue we'll reveal the shortlisted couples, and readers can vote online for their favourite. The winner of each issue will go through to the final, which will be held in spring next year. Any newlyweds can enter the competition: it doesn't matter whether the wedding was large or small: modest or spectacular. Remember, it's the readers who vote, and determine who ends up in the final - and ultimately who wins.

For more informtation on this year's Wedding of the Year competition and to find out how to enter, see page 55 of the current issue, or you can visit our website
