You would be forgiven for thinking this is a wedding dress retailer... in fact, it is part of the work room for Southampton based, independent dry cleaners, Boxed Bridal, who completely specialize in the cleaning, long term preservation and boxing for travel of wedding dresses.
"Wedding dress cleaning is a highly specialized area of work - all wedding dresses have extremely strong sentimental and emotional assets that mean the cleaning or pre-wedding pressing is extremely high risk" says Nickie Jenvey, director of Boxed Bridal. "I firmly believe that wedding dress cleaning is a passion and we really do care - I guess after 30 years of marriage I remain an old romantic and would love to have had my own dress properly cleaned and preserved all those years ago but I didn't! Big mistake and one that I cannot now unfortunately rectify."
Boxed Bridal is a trading name under the umbrella of Pressing Needs Limited who have been successfully operating within the Southampton and surrounding area for the last 23 years. "We have seen our bridal work really take off over the last 5 years, hence the rebranding as Boxed Bridal to give it some individual status. At the 6,500 sq ft Park Gate processing site, Boxed Bridal have a dedicated bridal area which enables Nickie to spend time with brides when they bring their dresses for cleaning, or even for boxing for traveling to a wedding abroad.
Offering a fabulous range of preservation and travel boxes, Boxed Bridal are pleased that 3 of the box designs they offer are completely exclusive to them. Boxed Bridal offer not only a cleaning and preservation service, but also a boxing service for brides who are traveling abroad for their wedding. "By packing their wedding dress into our travel box, a bride is able to travel with her dress as hand luggage in the cabin of the plane - safe and secure!"
"There is lots lots more I could say and write about the cleaning processes and about our business... And it really isn't boring!"

Thank you gifts for your wedding party are a lovely way to show your appreciation to family and friends who have been influential in the run-up to your big day. It can be easy to get carried away with all the preparations and forget to thank those closest to you for the effort that they have made to share in your celebrations. A present is a thoughtful way to show gratitude towards your guests as well as acting as a perfect keepsake of the wedding for years to come.
Merci beaucoup... So, you have decided to incorporate thank you gifts into your wedding planning but who do you give them to? We suggest thanking your nearest and dearest and those who have helped to make your big day come together. These could include: the bridesmaids, best man, ushers, mother-of-the-bride and any other friends or family members who have gone that extra mile. Here are some of our favourite gift ideas.
For the ladies We love this new necklace and matching earrings from Dominic Walmsley Jewellery. Inspired by confetti thrown at weddings, it is both a simple and memorable gift. Made in sterling silver and priced at £55 for the pendant and £65 for the earrings, it is on the more expensive side but well worth the investment for someone special.

Cancun may not be the first honeymoon destination that springs to mind, but thanks to a new direct flight path from the UK, newlyweds can easily access the pure shores and breathtaking beauty that this Mexican getaway has to offer, as Louise Prance discovers
The white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters of Cancun have often been thought of as the ultimate luxury getaway, yet have been inaccessible to many due to the lengthy journey involved. However, with British Airways now offering a direct route three times a week, and with Virgin Atlantic filling the gaps, there is a daily direct flight path that lands you right on the doorstep of this stunning honeymoon destination.
I was lucky enough to spend some time there and experience first hand what this romantic spot has to offer - and should you be able to tear yourself away from the beach, there is a wealth of activities to indulge in too.
Rising star The city of Cancun is located on the north east coast of Quintana Roo, southern Mexico and has fairly recently evolved as a thriving tourist destination, previously only inhabited by a coconut plantation, military base and a quiet fishing village. However, after the government spotted its potential, development started and Cancun has subsequently turned into an area of outstanding beauty that offers something for everyone; be it rest and relaxation, watersports, jungle activities, fine dining or nightlife - it's all there for the taking.

Weddings can be costly events - not just on your bank balance, but on the planet too. Danielle Wilkins looks at some of the small changes you can make to have a more ethical day, without compromising on luxury
Recycle, Recycle, Recycle If you're looking for more environmentally friendly ways to decorate your venue, there are a number of things you can try. For a vintage-themed day dig out old crockery to display flowers and candles, or recycle old jam jars by painting them, tying ribbon around the rim and filling with freshly picked blooms. If you don't have the time to source your own there are many hire companies out there that offer a china hire and venue styling service. Some of our favourites include Idyllic Days and My Vintage Party.

The Michelin Starred Terrace Restaurant has received its third AA Rosette
|
| |
We are very pleased to announce that the Michelin Starred Terrace Restaurant at The Montagu Arms Hotel has received its third AA Rosette.
Situated in Beaulieu in the heart of the New Forest, The Terrace at The Montagu Arms is one of the finest Michelin star restaurants in Hampshire and now boasts three AA Rosettes.
A third AA Rosette is awarded to "outstanding restaurants that achieve standards that demand recognition well beyond their local area. The cooking is underpinned by the selection and sympathetic treatment of the highest quality ingredients. Timing, seasoning and the judgment of flavour combinations will consistently be excellent. These virtues tend to be supported by other elements, such as intuitive service and a well-chosen wine list" - AA
Area General Manager James Hiley-Jones Said: "We are elated that the Terrace Restaurant has deservedly received a third AA rosette. It is testament to our core focus on providing exceptional dining experiences for our guests."
The Terrace Restaurant's Head Chef Matthew Tomkinson is equally delighted about the news. Matthew strongly believes in 'buying well and cooking simply'. His menu is intricately prepared and designed to capture a delicious and exciting range of flavours, textures and aromas with the focus on seasonal ingredients sourced from carefully selected local suppliers and The Montagu Arm's very own Kitchen garden.
Matthew Tomkinson and the staff of The Montagu Arms Hotel believe that free-range organic produce is not just better, because of its purity and freedom from additives but because it tastes a lot better too! Matthew's philosophy is to create fresh, beautifully cooked simple foods. Featured on the menu are dishes such as:
- Terrine of Marinated Free Range Chicken with Crispy 'Bon Bon', Toasted Caraway Bread and Chicken Liver Parfait
- Assiette of Woodside Farm Lamb with Roasted Carrot Puree, Confit Potato Mille Feuille and Rosemary Oil
When asked what draws him to the kitchen, Matthew replied, that he loved the symbiotic nature of the kitchen, where each person is implemental and important to the 'whole'. He explains that there can be intense pressure in the kitchen and if at any point 'any cogs of the wheel' collapse under the pressure, the whole ship can sink. "It involves a lot of quick thinking and you have a lot piling down on your plate - (pardon the pun!)"
Matthew Tomkinson strives under pressure, winning the roux scholarship after competing with 6 other chefs in front of a panel comprising Gary Rhodes, Rick Stein, Brian Turner, David Nicholls, Tamasin Day-Lewis and of course the Roux family. He then went on to win a Michelin star, one year afterwards as Head Chef at the Goose in Oxfordshire.
Obtaining a third AA Rosette is a testament to Matthew's exemplary culinary skills and passion for gourmet cuisine.
