Exquisite Bridal Couture

Exquisite Bridal Couture

Exquisite Bridal Couture is a luxury bridal boutique recently opened in the idyllic town of Lymington.

Exquisite was created by Natalie Gartside, who has styled clients at Harvey Nichols for 10 years.
"I felt that brides needed a boutique that offers a wider range of dress styles and shapes to choose from. At Exquisite we offer a dress for every style of bride, from floaty, ethereal dresses to wear at a beach wedding to more formal gowns perfect for a grand church and hotel venue." One of the key exclusive designers stocked by Exquisite is Sarah Houston. "I chose Sarah as one of my main designers as not only are her dresses to die for, but she offers a truly personal service to every bride and personally oversees every dress made in her workroom in Canada."

Sarah's gowns are famous for their high quality fabrics and meticulous details, using rich satin crepes and silk chiffons, intricate lace work, soft lines and impeccable tailoring. Her dresses are always cleverly finished off with beautiful Swarovski crystal detailing, pearls or opals, making them dresses to cherish.

Here are Sarah's top tips for brides:

Give yourself ample time to plan, generally the rule of thumb is that you need to order your gown at least six months before your wedding.

Consider which dress is most appropriate for your day, the location, the fabric, the time of year. If you love to dance and are considering doing the limbo at your reception, a strapless dress is probably not a good choice!

Limit the amount of friends and family you take on your initial dress shopping ventures. While the people closest to you have the best intentions, they do have different likes and dislikes. Narrow your choices to 3 and then seek opinions.

If you have to be assured that the dress looks great on you, its probably not the one. Is this how you pictured yourself walking down the aisle as a bride? I always say if you go to bed at night thinking about that one dress and wake up in the morning still thinking about it? then that dress is the one!

Have fun shopping for your wedding dress. It should be a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Sarah Houston is showcasing her new 2011 collection at Exquisite Bridal Couture from 23rd to 25th July. Please call Natalie on 01590 610 433 or email Natalie@exquisitebrides.co.uk to book your appointment or visit

Top tips
I'd love to be a dab hand with a camera. However, I really am no photographer and even the most basic point and click digital is beyond my mastering; the results rarely make it off the camera, let alone into a picture frame. So it was with interest that I read the tips on page 109 explaining how to make the most of wildlife photography while on honeymoon.

But this hasn't been the only revelation for me this issue, thanks to Lisa Morgan's wine guide. While I do enjoy a glass of dry white, I'm no sommelier and it's certainly given me more idea about choosing wine to complement food. If you're about to embark on the tricky task of finding the perfect wedding tipple, I recommend checking out page 52.

Happy planning

Bartlett & Butcher

Bartlett & Butcher

This year, and early 2011 bookings, has seen a significant switch with grooms asking for traditional tailcoat, some insisting "hat will be worn". Black is still the favourite with grooms picking Silver Grey as their second choice accompanied by a limitless choice of waistcoats. This summer Charcoal has taken a back seat because lighter greys coordinate better with paler waistcoats; grooms often comment "it's boring; I wear a dark suits every day to work".

In previous years a prominent colour has dominated Bartlett & Butcher ranges but brown, especially in the Edward style, is very 'last year'. Navy is making a comeback, last seen in the early 90's, and will feature strongly in 2011. This week two Bartlett & Butcher weddings chose Navy with ice blue waistcoats; the photos looked fabulous; a midnight blue Rolls completed the ensemble.
Shown is a Navy Mohair outfit with brocade waistcoat; £79.95 to hire.
