Floral arrangements
Q - My fiance proposed to me last month and I'm in the early stages of planning our big day. I'm clueless about the process of ordering flowers and wondered if you could advise how long it takes a florist to organise wedding blooms, from ordering to delivery?
A -Tracy Goodwin says: Select your florist in good time, up to a year in advance is advisable. At the first meeting discuss the type of flowers you would like and what will work to complement both your colour scheme and dress design. Six months prior to your wedding date another meeting could be scheduled to take care of any changes in style or design that may have occurred. Final details should be confirmed one month before your wedding, with final payment being made too. |

These days the significance placed on the cutting of the cake varies from couple to couple, however most weddings still have a sweet treat of some description to share with their guests at the end of the wedding breakfast. Today's cake makers are pushing the boundaries of cake design in response to increasing competition and demand for more personalised creations. With their experience and artistic flair, there is no limit to what they can produce. Take a look at some of our enticing examples, sure to whet your appetite.
Chocolate Delicious and indulgent, a chocolate wedding cake is sure to please your guests. Shelly Shulman from Cakes by Shelly says: "Chocolate cakes are rising in popularity all the time, mainly because of the huge choice of designs that are now available. Opt for a chocolate filling covered with white icing or go the whole hog with white, dark or milk chocolate icing. Decorate with handmade chocolate roses or cigarillos."
We say... how can anyone resist? Your big day is the best excuse you'll ever have for tucking into a four-tiered creamy chocolate masterpiece.
Top tip...if you're on a budget why not have a two-course sit-down meal and incorporate your wedding cake as dessert? Serve with a blob of Cornish ice-cream for an extra treat.

All brides will take an extra special memory from their big day. The most memorable part of the day at my nuptials was as I entered the church and saw my husband-to-be, Gary, waiting for me at the end of aisle - all my nerves disappeared and I soaked up every moment from that point on. It was a truly wonderful celebration. Check out the Brides' Bulletin on page 9 for a sneak peak at one of the lovely images from our big day.
If you have it all to come, we have an issue full of hints and tips on how to make your day one to remember. On page 83 we look at how to look and feel your best on the big day with our feature on getting in shape, while on page 39 the cakes feature will no doubt get your taste buds going with some sumptuous delights to enjoy once your hard work has paid off.
Enjoy!

Kate Everall Photography, based in Milton Keynes, is one of the leading wedding photographers in the region and has a modern and relaxed approach, capturing the day's events as they unfold. "I've been photographing weddings professionally for six years now, and I do it because I love everything about it: the excitement, emotion, dressing up, ceremony, details and more. If I can capture all those elements in pictures for newlyweds, in a way that doesn't intrude on their day, then it's fantastic. My aim is to produce a great memento of a special celebration," says Kate.
Choosing your photographer is one of the most important aspects of planning your nuptials and the photos will be ever-lasting memories for you to treasure. For more information about Kate Everall Photography call 01908 463 757 or visit www.kateeverallphotography.com
