| Autumn Fair International sees buyer attendance rise for the third year in a row |
| |
 |
| |
Attendance at Autumn Fair rose for the third year running - up three per cent on 2010 - and both buyers and exhibitors agreed that the event was the place to be for the second cycle of the buying calendar. A total of 32,223 buyers visited the show to source new ranges, determined to increase their product offering to capitalise on the vital festive trading period.
A major investment in new features, and a strong focus on future trends to help guide buying created a directional event, and an ideal platform for 60,000 brand new products from over 1,500 exhibitors - 900 of them exclusive to Autumn Fair this season.
Features launched at the show for the first time included the Toy Demo and Craft Demo Areas; WGSN Trend Bar; Home Accents for contemporary furnishings and home interiors; LifeStyle for design-led Kitchens, Dining & Housewares; and The Retail Store displaying the very latest in shop design and fittings.
The Managing Director of show organisers, Emap Connect Home & Gift, Louise Young, said: "The quality of product launched here was superb. In particular, the scope and editing of our design-led gift offering was second to none in the UK this season. The reputation of Autumn Fair exhibitors' innovation and sheer design talent is attracting increasing numbers of buyers each year. Retailers want to pinpoint their future best sellers and the show provides them with invaluable insight to help guide their product sourcing. The more we work to improve the presentation and content of our shows, the greater the inspiration we can offer as a catalyst to facilitate retail buying."

| |
 |
| |
The much-anticipated Top Drawer Awards took place at the end of the first day of the show, recognising the best new products at the event from each product category, as well as Best Dressed Stands under and over 24 square metres.
The award for Best New Fashion Product was presented to Sagen, for its quirky Dining with Grandma range. Susan Muncey, founder of Shopcurious.com, praised the collection, stating: "This is a great new idea - to make stunning jewellery from recycled porcelain. Every piece is different, tastefully made, and has character and charm." |

| Ringing in the new |
 |
As we begin a new year - a time for fresh starts and taking stock - it seems entirely appropriate that Attire Accessories has undergone a makeover, with a new look for 2012. Now a sleek A4 size, with a contemporary look, it's a thoroughly modern magazine. We're all delighted with the revamp, and I hope that you will be too.
January marks the start of the next round of trade events, with Top Drawer and Chic being the first of the season. We find out what to expect and who to watch out for at both exhibitions. I look forward to catching up with you all at the upcoming shows.
Happy holidays,

| Showcase Ireland goes native |
| |
 |
| |
Now in its 36th year, Showcase Ireland has gone back to its roots - celebrating the essence of Ireland. Inspired by the Emerald Isle's landscape and heritage, 350 of the country's leading designers, manufacturers and craftspeople pay homage to their ancestry.
The show is split into specifically-focused areas, designed to help you see as much as you can in as short a time-frame as possible. On the main floor there are four key categories: Fashion and Accessories, Home and Interiors, Giftware, and Jewellery.
Showcase's fashion show on Sunday evening will bring together the creative talent of all of the designers in the fashion field. The Top 50 New Product Awards have been selected for visitors by retailers, offering a fast-track way to find some of the best items at the show. The Top Trends area will highlight the hottest products for 2012.

| N. Peal celebrates 75th anniversary |
| |
 |
| |
N. Peal Cashmere has decided to celebrate its 75th anniversary this year by offering its valued customers a range of limited edition scarves and v-neck jumpers priced at a bargain sum of £75 each - £1 for every year. Designs that are likely to sell out fastest include the ladies leopard print scarf and the menswear pinstripe scarf.
There is even more cause for celebration for the label's Managing Director, Adam Holdsworth as sales have trebled since he bought the company in 2007. As a result, N.Peal has been expanding, with a new Sloane Street store opening last month, and two further retail outlets planned for 2012.
Founded in 1936 by Nat Peal, N. Peal has traded in high quality cashmere from its boutique in the exclusive Burlington Arcade. Since the brand was established, the luxury knits have been worn by stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana, Kate Moss, and Brigitte Bardot; and the Middleton family are said to be fans of the Bicester Village outlet.
Holdsworth says of the brand's continuing growth: "Our aim is to continuously update the look and feel of the brand, and provide a very personal customer service. By ensuring that the very highest standards of quality are maintained throughout each collection and season, we hope to appeal to new and old clients alike."

| Customers set to cash in with Argos deal |
| |
 |
| |
Precious metal recycling firm Hatton Garden Metals has joined forces with high street store Argos to offer a brand new gold trading deal to customers.
The partnership will allow customers to trade unwanted gold and other precious metals for 10 per cent more than its value if they opt for Argos and Homebase vouchers instead of cash. This is the first time that there's been a deal in the UK permitting companies to pay customers in excess of the gold bullion price for their scrap gold. Consumers will be given a card that can be topped up in store and used again and again - as well as the opportunity to earn further rewards in the future.
Danny Clenaghan, Managing Director of Argos for Business, said he was delighted to be part of a scheme which delivers higher value to consumers.
Matt Culling, Director of Hatton Garden Metals said: "We provide a way for people to cash in unwanted gold and precious metals. Being able to do this in conjunction with a high street store, gives customers 10 per cent more than the value of their scrap gold which will be a great bonus for many families in the run up to Christmas."
"At Hatton Garden Metals we offer a simple, fast and effective system that has helped us to deliver a superior service and become a highly trusted company within the gold recycling industry. This is a fantastic new way for customers to shop at both Argos and Homebase stores, and we are extremely excited about the partnership."
