| Visitors gear up for Textile Forum |
| |
 |
| |
At the next textile forum fashion fabrics show, taking place from 19th-20th october, 2011 at The Music Room, London, fabrics woven and knitted from natural fibres will be even more evident with the arrival of several first-time fabrics exhibitors.
Johnstons of Elgin, well-known for its cashmere, The Merino Company, with its blended jerseys and intricate jacquards, and British Alpaca Fashion, reviving fabrics from the Victorian age, will all be joining this successful event this year.
"This season the emphasis is very much on natural and fancy fabrics with lace particularly prominent as the impact of the Royal Wedding shows no signs of abating. Visitors will also be able to see the upcoming trend for fabrics with a 3D effect," says organiser Linda Laderman. "Textile Forum will also capitalise on the resurgence in demand for British-made fabrics, popular for their heritage status."
At Filtex the 3D effect is created with embroidery and Michael's Bridal Fabrics also has fabrics with this effect. According to Alan Litman in the aftermath of the Royal Wedding crochet still continues to be incredibly popular and floral laces with brushed lace is defining the new winter bridal collections.
Textile forum is open from 10am to 6pm on both days and entry is free. Full details of the show are available at www.textileforum.co.uk. |

Following the success of our first bridal trade exhibition, The Essential Collection, which took place at Stoneleigh Park, near Warwick, two months ago, I'm delighted to announce next year's show dates: 8th-10th July 2012.
In this issue of Attire Bridal there's a full review of The Essential Collection, including exclusive pictures from the catwalk and feedback from exhibitors and visitors.
Talking of trade shows, exhibitors and visitors alike are now gearing up for the British Bridal Exhibition in Harrogate which takes place this weekend. Our independent preview to the event can be found on page 44 in our current issue.
It's not long now until National Customer Service Week, taking place from 3rd-9th October 2011, which is why we've asked the Institute of Customer Service to write about the short and long term benefits of 'going that extra mile' for your brides. Ultimately, giving your brides the best possible experience of buying her dress will help to ensure the long-term success of your business.
Finally, we speak to leading bridal designers about wedding dress trends for 2012, find out more about iconic brand, Hollywood Dreams, and catch up with new bridal retailer, Rebecca Doyle in the weeks running up to the official launch of her Kent-based boutique, Isabella Grace Bridal.

| Stewart Parvin given Royal seal of approval |
| |
 |
| |
Zara Phillips gave couture fashion designer, Stewart Parvin, her seal of approval when she chose him to create her wedding dress for her marriage to Mike Tindall on 30th July, 2011. This commission continues the close relationship the designer holds with The Royal Family, following his Royal Warrant of Appointment as Her Majesty's couturier in 2007.
The silk faille gown with duchesse satin hem and bust featured a chevron pleated bodice ending in inverted pleats on a dropped waist, creating a bell shaped silhouette. The gown has a concealed structured corset ensuring a sleek fit.
To complement the gown, Zara wore a fine silk tulle cathedral length veil with a short blusher.
Stewart Parvin was also commissioned to dress the maid of honour who wore a dove grey, knee length, cocktail dress with cap sleeves and a high, elegant neckline. |
