While all eyes will be on the bride on her big day, her bridesmaids are the friends that have provided much love and support throughout the planning; so they need to look their best too. We speak with experts to give you a helping hand on choosing their attire
The designer Whether you're in search of sophisticated gowns or vintage-inspired cocktail dresses, the region is host to some fantastic designers that can give you the inside scoop on bridesmaids' fashion.
Pam Sayer has been working in the world of weddings since 1992, creating bespoke bridesmaids' dresses and bridal gowns. Every design is made to order to the client's specifications, and Pam can provide advice on the finer details such as shape, colour and suitable fabric.
- Your bridesmaids don't have to wear identical outfits. If the girls vary in size or shape, consider using the same fabric for all the dresses, but use different styles to suit their figures - there is nothing worse than looking back on your photos and noticing that one of your bridesmaids is trying to hide as she did not feel confident. Likewise, if your friends have very different colouring, consider having the same style dress but in different shades.
- Fifties style tea dresses are a big trend at the moment and they look absolutely gorgeous at weddings. If you have more than two or three bridesmaids wearing heavily netted petticoats under their lovely full skirts, think how much room they are going to take up in the car and if the girls will be comfortable in the venue space.

Emma and Richard's big day was a personal celebration with country chic décor and sweet blue hues
Emma Exley and Richard Lambert met in their local nightclub in Burnham in 2006, and while it was a particularly sociable environment, Richard was feeling less chatty on their first date thanks to an attack of nerves. "Richard was so shy, I had to do most of the talking. We didn't get off to a great start when I got into his car and the wind swept the door into a wall," says Emma.
"My bouquet included blue hydrangeas, roses, sweet Williams, and green foliage. We wanted a country theme for our wedding so our florist advised us on what flowers were in season that would fit in with the rural look we were trying to create."
"I wanted an elegant gown with a modern edge that flattered my figure. I tried on about 30 dresses and my mum helped me make my final decision. I knew when I found the one as I was so happy I didn't want to take the gown off!"
The décor in the marquee had a country feel. We used silk flowers from Arti-flora in the centrepieces, which were circular arrangements similar to my bouquet with a glass vase and a candle. The displays matched our theme perfectly.
We visited many venues and attended lots of wedding fairs, but we didn't feel connected to the places we saw and none of them had the personal feel we wanted. We decided to have our reception in a marquee in my parents' field so we could create an exciting setting that represented us and our style.

Doubletree by Hilton Cadbury House
Nestled in the North Somerset countryside Doubletree by Hilton Cadbury House is set against a backdrop of woodland and the famous Cadbury Hill. The modern hotel stands next to the gothic-style 18th century house and both have fantastic views across the Bristol Channel and beyond into Wales.
The inviting four-star luxury hotel combines historical character with contemporary design. There are several pleasant rooms licensed to hold both civil marriages and commitment ceremonies, while couples can also consider an al fresco ceremony in the thatched gazebo. If the food on the big day is of top priority, you're sure to be impressed by the fabulous Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill, which adds an extra element of glamour to any celebration.
It's for you if... you want a stylish setting for modern nuptials.
