| Our big day: Vaishali and Sachin |

A sophisticated diamonds and pearls theme and colourful details set the scene for Vaishali and Sachin's celebrations at The Brewery
Many people spend their time at university feverishly studying in the library or enthusiastically socialising on campus, and it was in the midst of this hectic schedule that Vaishali and Sachin were introduced by mutual friends. Though the pair got on well it was a few years before Vaishali asked Sachin out on a date, though he says, "she still maintains I tricked her in to doing so!" Aside from a difference of opinion in who invited who, the meal at Thai restaurant Patara and a drink at Jewel Bar was very much a success.
Romance blossomed for the couple and in 2008 Sachin proposed to Vaishali while they were on holiday in Prague. "Sachin hired the tower of a château overlooking the old town for a meal for just the two of us with our own personal waiter," recalls Vaishali. "I was standing by a window looking at the wonderful view and he tapped me on the shoulder. When I turned round he was on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was completely taken by surprise."
Vaishali and Sachin took 18 months to plan their nuptials and chose a purple colour scheme with a diamonds and pearls theme. The couple shared the organisation equally. "The trickiest part of the process was finding a venue we loved that could also accommodate our 600 guests," says Vaishali. "Although planning the wedding was stressful at times it was good to see all the hard work pay off, as everything ran to schedule and everybody had a fabulous time. It was the very first milestone in our new lives together."
Vaishali and Sachin were married on 29th August, 2010. Turn to page 49 of the current issue for their account of the big day. |

Royal Festival Hall Situated on the bustling South Bank of the Thames, the Royal Festival Hall provides a central London location with great views of the capital and excellent transport links, making it ideal for cultured couples with guests travelling from afar. The Grade I listed building is a masterpiece of 1950s architecture and following extensive refurbishment the Hall also benefits from 21st century levels of comfort and technology.
Rooms licensed for weddings vary between the sleek and modern Weston Roof Pavilion, which has polished wooden floors and is flooded with natural light, to the very stage of the Royal Festival Hall auditorium itself. Due to the sizes of the spaces available, the venue tends to attract brides- and grooms-to-be who want a non-traditional wedding.
