Top tips to share
I'd love to be a dab hand with a camera. However, I really am no photographer and even the most basic point and click digital is beyond my mastering; the results rarely make it off the camera, let alone into a picture frame. So I found the tips on page 101 explaining how to make the most of wildlife photography while on honeymoon very handy.

But this hasn't been the only revelation for me this issue, thanks to Laura Binder's feature on wedding mishaps. I found it interesting to read about all those little things that can easily go wrong on the big day, and just how you brave brides deal with them. Check out the feature on page 34.

Happy planning

Sunny romance

Sunny romance

It was a fun and romantic celebration for Sam and Daley, when they enjoyed their big day in early September...

Sam and Daley met while they were out one evening with a mutual friend, but after parting ways, it was another year-and-a-half before the pair met again. "We hadn't seen each other in ages but got on so well that we quickly became friends," recalls Sam. "Things progressed from there." Then, four-and-a-half years later, Daley proposed to Sam while the two were having a quiet evening stroll over the Clent Hills.

To fit with their informal venue, the couple opted for a laid back and fun occasion with 60 of their family and friends at the wedding breakfast and 120 at the evening party.
"When I was researching ideas for bridesmaids' dresses one day, I fell in love with a soft green colour that the Dessy Collection refers to as 'celadon'," says Sam. "So I decided to theme the wedding around that particular colour."

"Since I couldn't include the colour celadon in the flowers, I opted for a fairly neutral bouquet," says Sam. "I chose ivory roses with pretty crystals interspersed between them, and green foliage to edge the bouquet and make it stand out against my dress. I think roses are a classic and romantic flower that always look beautiful. They fitted the occasion perfectly."

For more information and pictures of Sam and Daley's big day, see pages 28-32 of the current issue.

Regency splendour

Regency splendour

Bring out the socialite in you and return to the heady, indulgent days of a bygone era, says Laura Binder...

If there's one day to go all out on, it's the big day. So, if ideas of grandeur are filling your wedding fantasies, don't rein them in, embrace a bout of sheer indulgence and take inspiration from the British Regency's high society.
This era was all about powdered wigs, silky satins and frivolous aristocracy, all of whom had one aim: pleasure. But, to make this devilishly delightful look work in 2010 you don't need a budget to rival British nobility. If your venue is a stately home or historic house you've got a match made in heaven. However, it's just as easy to give plain marquees an extravagant overhaul with a few choice details.

For starters, adorn your tables with the finest cutlery, crystal glassware and matching china - try vintage hire for an economical option. For flowers, think flamboyant. "Back then arrangements were all about frilly, romantic blooms in pastel hues," floral expert Sarah Holland tells me. "If couples want to replicate this period, they should ask florists for gladioli, snapdragons, lilac, and garden style cabbage roses." I say plump for over-sized feathers in powderpuff shades too, for an irresistible touch of decadence. Fans and parasols are oh-so-ladylike - perfect on summer dates - so why not give female guests one each for favours?
