As well as the memories from your special day, a lasting token you take away with you for the rest of your life is your wedding band. This symbolic representation of your union as husband and wife is worn everyday, so you should rest assured knowing that you have made the right decision when selecting your rings.
Etched with love If you have your heart set on having your wedding rings engraved, make sure you purchase a design that can accommodate the inscription.
"All precious metals can be engraved. The softer metals such as 22-carat gold may show some wear within a short time but all the others should last for decades if they are done properly," says Malcom Scott of Smooch wedding rings. "We engrave on the inside and outside of rings. Even titanium can be engraved despite being incredibly tough. When engraving on the inside of the ring we have to leave room for the hallmark, which is mandatory on gold, palladium and platinum, as well as avoiding the 'setting holes' we have to leave in for diamonds."
"Not all diamond rings have setting holes but you need to bear this in mind when considering engraving. The most popular choice of words is often the names and the date of the wedding but we also get poetry, song lyrics and some funny phrases."

Victoria Goodwin married Christopher Bury, on 25th June, 2011, at St Mary's Church, Sandbach, followed by a beautiful vintage garden party at her parent's house in Smallwood
"We had been friends for many years before becoming a couple," says Victoria. "For our first date Chris took me for an Italian meal, which went very well apart from Chris spilling pasta sauce all over his white shirt."
After living in Shanghai for a few years, Victoria and Chris decided that when they came back to England they would get married. The wedding took seven months for Victoria and her mum to plan the day. "The easiest thing to organise was the catering," claims Victoria. "Chris and I are definitely food lovers! Wayne at KLS Weddings was a pleasure to deal with, he gave us so many helpful hints and really made us feel at ease."
"I definitely enjoyed organising the big day, I loved reading all the magazines and wedding blogs and discovering new things. My mum, grandmother and sisters all helped to dress the marquee and write the name tags, it was a really nice bonding experience."

Q - I suffer with dry skin especially on my face, what treatments could I have in the run-up to the wedding to ensure my skin is glowing for the big day?
A - Dom says: To ensure radiant skin I always recommend an intense hydrating facial with a collagen mask once a month. This should be started about six months before the big day to give your skin time to adjust and repair. The collagen mask will help to regain your skins radiance and luminosity.
As well as professional treatments you need to keep up the good work at home by using a hydrating mask once or twice a week for 20 minutes. This will maintain the glow you get after a professional facial and will also keep dryness at bay.
If you aren't already, you should probably start using a hydrating and protecting day cream with SPF to make sure you are helping to combat signs of premature ageing and protecting your skin from environmental factors. Always use a serum under your moisturiser as this will make it 30 per cent more effective.
Remember to cleanse and tone morning and evening; by removing dirt and grease you will enable your skin to breath and prevent it from looking dull.
Finally, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Always remember to drink plenty of water. |
