Emily and James celebrated their nuptials with an English tea-party in the church grounds
Emily and James met at a summer conference called New Wine, on a campsite in Newark in July, 2007. For their first date they went to Lyme Park, and then out for dinner. "It went really well," recalls Emily. "We started going out a couple of weeks later."
James popped the question on a bridge overlooking the maze at Chatsworth House gardens. "He sent me on a treasure hunt with a hand-drawn map which eventually led me to him," laughs Emily.
It took the happy couple a year to plan their big day with the help of both of their parents. With Emily's dad being the vicar at All Saints Church, it seemed the obvious choice for the couple to get married there.
Pretty bunting, afternoon tea and strawberry scones served on vintage china in the garden, helped make Emily and James's summer wedding a quintessentially English affair and oh-so pretty!

Ensure you make the most of shopping with the bridesmaids
The year ahead "Bridesmaids' dresses in 2012, are going to be beautiful, elegant and new colours are set to storm the wedding scene," says Hannah Urquhart from Bride To Be. "The Royal wedding is definitely having an influence on next year's styles, with coloured lace forming backs to the gowns and necklines complementing solid satins."
"There is still a strong '50s-style carrying through to next season, with pretty bows in satin and lace also continuing this theme. Tea-length styles are becoming more and more popular with vintage themes continuing to grow. Dusky pink, sage green, coral and simple black and ivory are also making an entrance."
"Of course, the classic bridesmaids styles of strapless, sweetheart necklines are still prominent and have had subtle changes to keep up with fashion trends. However, if you fancy something a little different, next year will definitely be the year to experiment."

Planning the day
Q - We are having our wedding breakfast at 3pm and want a classical band to set the scene. However, we are unsure when to ask our upbeat evening entertainment to start their set? What would you advise when it comes to the timings of our afternoon and evening entertainment.
A - Jon Baker says: If you are having quieter or classical live music during your wedding meal it's usually best for the musicians to start playing just before your guests are seated. This creates a lovely relaxed atmosphere to start the proceedings - as long as the volume is low and unobtrusive. The music can continue until the speeches and then, if you wish, afterwards as the guests leave the tables.
For the lively evening entertainment it is always best to start with quieter recorded music as guests arrive and settle down. You will probably find all your evening guests won't have arrived until about 8.30 to 8.45pm and this is when things should liven up with the band's live set - starting with the first dance of the happy couple. A shorter first set leading up to the evening buffet will work well, followed by a much longer set after everyone has eaten. |
